Updates From Ukraine

Since yesterday, fighting and rocket fire on the border with the separatist region have also increased sharply.  Many places where our employees live and work have been affected.  We would like to inform you about the current situation below. Lisichansk In Lisichansk a rocket hit the house of our youth missionary Roman Kasadoy and his family. The rocket, which can be seen in the picture, flew through the window, directly through the family’s bedroom, over the bed and then into the yard.  It then exploded there.  Through God’s intervention, everyone survived and no one was hurt, but the shock runs deep.
Gorskoe The day before yesterday we reported that all is quiet in Gorskoe, the staff there is distributing food and taking in refugees from the surrounding villages. Unfortunately, since yesterday, like the surrounding villages, the electricity and water supply has collapsed.  In addition, fighting is now raging in the area.  For protection, all people are now in the basements and are holding out there.
Bachmut The soup kitchen in Bachmut continues to run and feed people.  The number of visitors has of course risen sharply due to the current situation – just like the food prices.  Our staff is doing their best to feed everyone despite the difficult situation.
Pokrovsk Pokrovsk and the surrounding villages are now also shelled.  Among others, the spiritual center Galizinovka is located there, where a large part of our Ukrainian projects were carried out in the past years. Vasili’s bakery nevertheless continues to bake.  However, it is almost impossible to buy food in Eastern Ukraine, because the supply there has completely collapsed. Yesterday, Grisha was able to buy 300 liters of oil, 100 kg of rice, 100 kg of oatmeal, 250 kg of sugar, 300 kg of flour and a box of canned food in western Ukraine.  The food will now be transported through Ukraine to the East so that they can continue to bake bread and feed the people there.  We pray that the transport will be successful and that the food will arrive where it is needed most.
