Create Opportunities

With the new freedom and perestroika* 30 years ago, a great many people in Eastern Europe came to faith.  In Ukraine and Moldova many new congregations emerged.  However, the collapse of the former Soviet Union brought economic decline, which continues to this day.  Christians there face the fact that many people come to faith, but lack the means to build new church center.  However, it is essential for Christians to have a place where they can meet and live their faith together.  That is why we support community building projects to make it possible for Christians to have a home.

Renovations

For economic reasons, repairs and renovations of existing community centers are often not possible.  In the long term, this means that despite the great need, many community centers are no longer safe or have to be closed.  To build completely new is costs much more, and for smaller congregations, not affordable.  It is our concern to support the renovation and repair of community centers, so that the community can continue to meet safely in a place of worship

Work Assignments

Every year we travel to the East with international teams and youth groups to help people practically and to share God’s love with them. Through the outreaches we can help the churches to inspire new people for Jesus. For the participants this often becomes an unforgettable experience. The focus of the outreaches can be missions, construction work or children and youth work.
Perestroika refers to the process initiated by Mikhail Gorbachev in early 1986 to restructure and modernize the social, political and economic system of the Soviet Union.
