People who have gotten into trouble because of war, old age or illness hardly have a chance in Ukraine to get back on their feet on their own. They depend on help, which the state cannot provide. In cooperation with local communities, we see our task in making it possible for those in need to have at least one warm meal on a regular basis. The visitors to the soup kitchens are very grateful and are happy to come a little earlier to hear songs and short messages and to pray together. Even after the meal, people stay to ask questions or seek personal talks.

Distress in the East

The war has left its mark on Ukraine, especially in the east of the country. In addition to two million internally displaced persons, there is a lot of poverty and homelessness. These people didn’t even have the bare essentials to live on. This particularly affects children, the sick and the elderly, who are the least able to help themselves and who are neither in a health nor financial position to change their situation and move to economically better off regions. The commandment of charity obliges us not to close our eyes to this need and to help people as best we can.

Expansion of Soup Kitchens

There is often a lack of suitable rooms for the soup kitchens, so that people have to eat their food in very cramped conditions, in tents or outdoors. With the growing number of visitors, the premises also have to be adapted. We support this service by renovating or expanding premises and providing food and urgently needed inventory through donations.

Homeless Assistance

Fueled by the war and the resulting refugee crisis, there is homelessness across the country. Economic decline and the government’s inability to remedy the situation has also left thousands of homeless people living on the streets, in sewers or in landfills, where they eke out an extremely miserable existence.
Often it is the last resort , which remains for them. Quite a few of them freeze to death in winter or die alone and abandoned. For this reason we have set up mobile soup kitchens, which we use to go to these people. They get food or blankets to warm them up.
Our employees tell the homeless about Jesus and encourage them. This is how many of them found their way back to life.
