Winter Care Packages for Sponsor Children
In response to the wishes of many sponsor parents who would like to give their sponsored child or family a special Christmas gift,
we have come up with two alternative ways of providing additional help through special donations: Winter package 1: $60 for a big food package
Winter package 2: $120 heating allowance for the winter (wood or coal) In addition to food prices, heating costs also increase in the winter, for which an average household needs an estimated amount of about $340.
For people with very low incomes, the winter months are therefore particularly challenging. If you decide to make such a special donation, please give us a short note with the sponsorship number by mail, email, or phone and transfer the corresponding amount to our donation account.
Please indicate in the reason for payment: “Sponsorship number, winter package 1 (or 2)”.
Sponsorship Changes Lives
Social
The sponsorship project primarily supports socially disadvantaged children. The caretakers regularly deliver basic foodstuffs, as well as clothing and shoes.
Education
In order to improve professional opportunities, school and apprenticeship training of sponsored children are also supported.
Spiritual
An important aspect of the sponsorship is the pastoral care and encouragement of the sponsored children. Through pastoral care they receive help through pastoral counseling and prayer.
Family
Through caregiving, parents are often relieved and empowered to fulfill their duty of care. It is important to us to keep the families together and to involve everyone in the care.
Our Goal
Our goal and focus points are to improve the economic situation of children and families, to accompany them pastorally and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
We strive for the cohesion of families, support them in special emergencies and support the children throughout their schooling and education.
Sponsor Children Care
Our employees attach great importance to the accompaniment and care of the sponsored children. Many of the children have mental health challenges due to their parents’ alcoholism, war and poverty. Our employees visit the children regularly and spend time with them.
Bringing hope and appreciation to the children, our employees are also a support for the parents and they are often asked for advice when problems arise. With this individual care children and their families can be supported spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
Ukraine
Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe. Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the country has struggled with ongoing political, economic and social problems. The population of Ukraine is very divided. The West wants to align itself with Western Europe and the East with Russia. As a result, armed conflict broke out in 2014 and continues to this day.
A small part of the country has been occupied by separatists who repeatedly engage in skirmishes with the Ukrainian military. The population in this area continues to suffer and many have fled to western Ukraine. A large portion of the people in this region have no means to leave and must stay. Ukraine is the second poorest country in Europe after Moldova.
Moldova
The Republic of Moldova is a small state located between Romania and Ukraine. The size of the country is about one third of the state of New York. Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, Moldova was considered the fruit supplier of Russia and was economically very successful. Today it is the most impoverished country in Europe. Chances of employment in the country are very low, causing many to work abroad. The population in Moldova is also very divided. One half of the population wishes for closer ties to the EU while the other half towards Russia. Conflict due to this divide led to the independent de facto regime in the small region of Transnistria.
